ABOUT THE ARCHIVE

It's safe to say that we live in very strange times. â€‹We're all locked into our houses, the news is a constant stream of depressing stories, and I suspect at some point we have all thought to ourselves "Is this really happening?" It's a bleak time for many people, with little sign of things improving quickly.

The Isolation Archive looks to counter that. This is a space for people to share the wonderful and creative things that they have made while in lockdown. Whether the work belongs in the Tate Modern, or on your parents fridge, we want to see your creativity!

We accept works in all mediums, at all standards, from all ages. Let's share some colour and creativity in these trying times.

To submit work for consideration to the Archive, please email theisoarchive@gmail.com

QUESTIONS

How did you come up with the idea for The Isolation Archive?

One of our founders had a piece of writing about a goose that she wanted to share because she thought it would cheer people up. Unfortunately she had nowhere to host it. She then began to wonder if other people were in the same position, especially her creative friends who were still making stuff whilst being stuck indoors. And thus, The Isolation Archive was born.

Creatio per aspera; what's that all about?

It's our tagline! It means creation through adversity, which we felt was quite fitting for the times we find ourselves in. And everyone loves a bit of Latin (at least we do!).

Can I submit to the Archive?

Absolutely! Please email any submissions to theisoarchive@gmail.com. We'll accept any medium, of any subject from any age of creative.

What do I need to include in my submission?

Your submission should include:

  • Your content (with a cover picture if it's a written piece)

  • Any creative notes you wish to be included in the post

  • The name you would like to be credited as

  • A very short biography (20 words max.) for us to include in our Creatives Gallery

  • A picture or illustration for us to include in our Creatives Gallery (doesn't have to be of you)

  • Any social links you'd like to share (optional)

Are there any rules for submissions?

Yes.

  1. Please keep all submission PG - we want this archive to be as accessible as possible.

  2. No fanworks. Musical covers are permitted, but there are other spaces that are suitable for hosting fannish content.

Can I tell my friends?

Please do - the more the merrier! We're going to see how this website goes, but we may end up creating some social media sites to promote the work of the archive in the future.
